Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) installed a 9,000 sq ft test area where erosion, drainage, and winter sand buildup was problematic. Runway/taxiway operations were frequently halted in order to rework the soil. Artificial turf was installed to determine if the turf could avoid the need for the costly shutdowns.

Air FieldTurf AGAT™ was installed on the island next to a taxiway where major rutting and erosion occurred.

Natural grass surrounds the installation. A French drain runs along the backside of the turf and leads to a drain along the edge of the AGAT™ area. Since the AGAT™ was installed, no erosion, drainage, or sand buildup problems have recurred.
